Helping kids develop good dental habits at a young age helps them start a good lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
Early on, take care of your child’s baby teeth. Even though they are eventually going to fall out, baby teeth play a significant role in helping your child chew food and speak clearly.
Another important role of baby teeth is that they hold space in your child’s mouth so the permanent teeth are able to come in properly. Small spaces between teeth are natural, to allow extra space for the permanent teeth which are bigger.
Take care of baby teeth by brushing them with a soft toothbrush twice a day. Use a toothpaste for kids that is milder than adult toothpaste.
Be sure to take your child to the dentist before their first birthday. As your child gets older, regularly scheduled exams and cleanings will help to keep their teeth and gums healthy.
It is good for you to know the importance of baby teeth and keeping them healthy, as they will give way to the permanent teeth being just as healthy.
